A Realistic “Fake Bake”
Posted on July 8th, 2009 at 12:37 am by luv2tch
Of course you know that sun is very damaging to your skin.  Sun has been directly linked to skin cancer AND wrinkles, not to mention those lovely brown spots sometimes known as age spots. However, nothing makes you feel more summery than a nice golden tan.  So what to do?  Get rid of that winter white skin with a self tanning product.  Following are some tips for creating the best fake tan: 1.  Before applying the self tanner, exfoliate your skin.  Dry patches of dead skin cells absorb the self tanner more and turn darker than the surrounding skin.  So you will want to get rid of those skin cells before applying the tanner.  Use a scrub such as Mary Kay's Loofah Body Cleanser in Lotus&Bamboo or Red Tea&Fig fragrances or the Limited Edition Tropical Pineapple Sugar Scrub to remove those dry patches.  Use these products wherever you are going to apply the self tanner. 2.  Apply a self tanner such as Mary Kay's Subtle Tanning Lotion.  Apply a light coat starting at the feet and work your way up.  You can remove streaks with cotton swabs soaked in Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. 3.  To keep your fake tan looking as good as possible for as long as possible do not use an exfoliant for a few days after you have achieved the intensity level of tan that you desire.  Pat dry rather than rubbing with a towel following a shower or bath.  Keep skin hydrated with a good moisturizing lotion.

What Is Your Plan B?
Posted on April 27th, 2009 at 11:35 pm by luv2tch
Did you know that 40% of America is in a financial crisis?  There are various reasons this is true.  You can't read a newspaper or watch a TV news show without being made aware that times are not good for many in terms of finances. What would you do if suddenly you or your husband lost their job?  Are you prepared for that possibility?  Experts recommend having a savings that would cover six months of unemployment.  How do you do that when you are struggling from pay check to pay check? I invite you to investigate the opportunity provided by Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Did you know that alcohol, tobacco, and cosmetics are three products that do not show a decrease in sales during a time of recession.  And cosmetics do not cause car accidents or lung cancer (unless you are applying makeup while driving!) Maybe you need something to supplement your income, maybe you need something that will help you add to your emergency fund, or maybe you just need something to help you get your beauty products at a discount.  Whatever your reason, Mary Kay may be just what you need.  And then if the unthinkable occurs and you find yourself without an income, Mary Kay can provide the means to take care of the needs of your family. Wouldn't it make sense to get the training, get your products at a discount and maybe sell to a few customers right now.  Then if you find you have the need for more income, it will be available. Many people are finding they need a Plan B right now.  If you are one of those people, I may have a solution for you.  If you or someone you know needs a Plan B--contact me.
April Snow
Posted on April 6th, 2009 at 10:33 am by luv2tch
So, here I sit on the morning of April 6 watching it snow!  The weekend was beautiful, and then Sunday night happened.  The wind picked up, the temperature dropped, and now this! But, I have to make a confession.  I love April snow.  Here's why:
  1. It's beautiful
  2. It reminds me of the song "The Twelfth of Never."  Is anyone here old enough to remember when little Donnie Osmond sang this song or when it was sung at most of the weddings you went to?
  3. It reminds me of the years when my mom would wake us up on April 1st with the words, "It's snowing," and we would run to the window and she'd say, "April Fool's."
  4. It reminds me of my 20th birthday when I was a sophomore in college and I woke up to see snow on the ground.
  5. And most importantly, you can enjoy the beauty of it and know that you aren't going to have to shovel a thing!!
April snow is just one of life's little reminders that you have to have to enjoy beautiful things at the moment they are available--because many times that moment is fleeting.
Interesting Economic News

Last night I saw an interesting news story on Geraldo on Fox News.  It said that in this hard economic time, more women are turning to stripping and exotic dancing to supplement their income. Ladies-- please, if you need to supplement your income, talk to me about the opportunities in Mary Kay before you start stripping or pole dancing!!

How exciting--I just logged in and found that Blogdumps is up and running again after many days of being out of commission.  Even though I have much that I want to say after not being able to post for awhile, I can't do it today because I will be at church most of the day.  So I'll talk to you later!
Clementines
Posted on March 5th, 2009 at 4:55 pm by luv2tch
I just read some interesting information about clementines--those sweet little citrus fruits that are in all the stores during the winter.  These facts were in the February 16th edition of First Magazine.
  1. 1.  They are slimming.  At approximately 40 calories, each one has 150 percent of the recommended daily amount of Vitamin C.  Vitamin C jump starts the lymphatic system's elimination of fat-packing toxins and excess fluids.  Also, researchers at ASU in Tempe, AZ found that C plays a vital role in the synthesis of Carnitine, an amino acid that speeds fat burn by 25 percent.
  2. 2.  They promote younger looking skin.  Eating one clem every day can improve skin elasticity and smooth fine lines and wrinkles in as little as 3 weeks some researchers have found.  This is because the fruit has plentiful amounts of hesperidin, a phytonutrient that works with vitamin C to maintain and promote the formation of skin plumping collagen.
  3. 3.  They can lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.  A team of scientists recently found that eating clems regularly can slash LDL by 40%.  Rare compounds called polymethoxylated flavones in the fruit's juice and zest block LDL forming proteins plus inhibit the synthesis of artery-clogging triglycerides in the liver.
  1. 4.  They can relieve varicose veins.  They can reduce the appearance of varicose veins by 55 percent in just 4 weeks, according to British researchers.  That is because they are rich in bioflavonoids, compounds that strengthen vein walls and prevent the fluid backup that causes bulges.  Bioflavonoids also reduce the body-wide inflammation that make varicose veins look worse. Now, I am neither a scientist or a nutritionist, and I don't even know what some of those words mean.   But of the words I do know--slimming, fat burn, younger look skin, collagen, lower cholesterol and Vitamin C are good.  And the words fat-packing toxins, excess fluids, varicose veins, fluid backup and bulges are bad.  So what could it hurt.  Clementines are good to eat and may be very good for you.  What have you got to lose--only fat-packing toxins, fine lines and wrinkles, bad cholesterol and varicose veins! You remember the old saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away."  Well, maybe a clementine a day will keep old age away.  Excuse me while I go consume several dozen of these little miracle workers!!
Dash Out the Door Beauty
Posted on March 4th, 2009 at 12:16 pm by luv2tch
Here is how to apply a typical dash out the door look.  Use the foundation of your preference.  I usually use the tinted moisturizer for just a hint of color and tone smoothing and an additional SPF of 20.  Then I apply the mineral powder foundation--so quick and easy.  You can use as much or as little as you like to cover imperfections and give your face a flawless finish. Then quickly apply a light eye shadow or the vanilla eyesickles to your eye lids, a quick swipe of eyeliner, and a coat or 2 of mascara to each eye. Finish your dash out the door look with some blush and lip gloss and there you go--basic beauty for whatever your day brings.
3 Minutes to Beautiful Skin
Posted on March 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 pm by luv2tch
One comment that seems to come up often during skin care classes or makeovers is this, "Oh, I would never spend that much time doing this every day." Well, here are my thoughts on that concern. First of all, when you are 55 or 60, how much time will you spend wishing you HAD taken better care of your skin. After all, it is the only skin you will have and in reality, what is the first thing people notice about other people? Their faces, of course! So, you want your face to look as youthful as possible for as long as possible. And if you are a 20 something reading this, don't have the attitude I did when I was a teen and in my young 20's. I can remember my mother telling me that if I didn't quit getting tan in the summer, I would have wrinkly skin by the time I was 50. And I thought to myself--when I am 50, I won't CARE what my skin looks like! (Actually, at that time I couldn't even imagine being 50!) But, guess what? When I DID become 50, I DID care what my skin looks like! Being a beauty consultant I thought I should have a good answer for those who think that good skin care takes too long. First, when you have a makeover or attend a skin care class, the process takes maybe 10 minutes to cleanse, exfolliate, tone and moisturize your skin. That is because I am telling you what each step is for and explaining the products you are using, AND if you are with another person or group of people, you are usually talking, laughing and generally having a good time (at least I hope so). When you follow this skin care routine in the privacy of your own bathroom, it takes about 3 minutes morning and night. So in the interest of truth in advertising, I timed myself one day. And I WAS able to do it in 3 minutes at night. It was easy--I got my hands wet, applied the TimeWise 3n1 Cleanser (in upward and outward motions, of course--remember the fight against gravity), removed it with a wet wash rag, slathered on the Night Solution to help my skin renew itself during the night with age fighting vitamins and antioxidents, and topped that off with TimeWise Age Fighting Moisturizer to hydrate. Then, last, but certainly not least, I dab on the firming eye cream all around my eyes, on my temples and across the bridge of my nose. The next morning, again, three minutes. I keep the 3n1 Cleanser and the Satin Lips Mask in my shower. So after washing and shampooing my hair, I simply wash my face with the cleanser and apply the mask to my lips, then I rinse my hair, face, lips and body all at one time. Once a week or so, I add the additional step of Microdermabrasion while still in the shower. After drying off, I applied the Day Solution for protection from the sun and line relaxing peptides and the moisturizer once again. Then a quick swipe of lip balm on my lips and firming eye cream around my eyes, and I am ready to go on to the next step which is a dash out the door look. Very simple and easy to do. And remember, how you care for your skin today will determine how your skin looks in 10, 20, or 30 years.
Turn Back the Hands of Time
Posted on February 2nd, 2009 at 3:40 am by luv2tch
Here are a few tips to take some years off your face!
    1. 1. Use a creamy foundation. A moisture rich formula hydrates skin and makes lines and wrinkles less noticeable. If you use powder, use mineral powder. It does not settle in lines and actually reflects light to make those lines less noticeable. 2. Hide dark circles with a yellow tone concealer. 3. Use a creamy concealer and use it sparingly. After you apply your makeup, apply your concealer to age spots or other imperfections. Don't rub the concealer in, just press and roll until the concealer blends in. 4. Lengthen and extend your lashes. Heavy lashes can age you so go for a mascara with a thinner consistency rather than a volumizing mascara. 5. If you line your eyes, instead of making a fat line across your eyelid, lightly draw a thin line close to your lashes and smudge with a cotton swab to soften the line. Or apply a subtle line with eye shadow instead of eye liner. Lining your lower lids can cause your eyes to look smaller. 6. Do not use frosty or glittery eye shadows. If you have less than smooth lids, the sparkly particles will settle in the fine lines making them more noticeable. Using an eye primer can make your eye lids smoother before putting the shadow on. 7. Bright colors can be aging, so pick warm neutrals such as taupe or gray. 8. Curl your lashes--nothing opens your eyes or makes you appear wide awake more quickly than an eye lash curler.
